Dear RARE Bear Army Members,

As an organization that cares deeply about our community, we believe it’s our duty to look after each other and those around us during challenging times such as these. RARE Science has been closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation and as an active member in our community support the CDC announcement to wear face coverings to protect others and yourself from spreading Covid19.  This is in addition to physical separation and staying six feet away from others as possible.

We have created a RARE Bear Army tips and tricks to make masks for your community wherever you are in the world.   We know these are not medical grade but can help the community we each live in saving the medical grade masks for those courageously on the frontline caring for patients.

We are focusing on our most vulnerable populations such as kids, people in transition and the elderly.  There are many mask tutorials on line but we have some tips and tricks for making the masks especially for kids.  We recommend 3 layer – 2 high quality pieces of cotton fabric with nonwoven interfacing in between.  For groups supporting large organizations with masks, we have supporting funds for materials and we are always here if you have questions. We will be loading more information to our website in the future or you can email info@staging.rarescience.org for additional information.  If you are making masks or will start, please let us know so we can share the efforts of the RBA on our website.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@staging.rarescience.org

Stay safe and well

All our best wishes

The RARE Science Team
